Corporate Wellbeing
Why we need corporate wellbeing programs
Some companies are famous for attracting and retaining the best people. What do they do differently? Besides doing something exciting and valuable, they are committed to staff wellbeing. In fact, having a clear mission statement (that spells out the exciting and valuable thing you do) is part of corporate wellbeing.
Here are some specific reasons why we need corporate wellbeing programs.
- 137.3 million working days were lost due to sickness or injury in the UK in 2016 (4.3 days/worker average). It’s worse in the US. This costs corporations £554 per person per year.
- Presenteeism (showing up but not being productive due to health problems including stress) adds to the problem and costs corporations and additional £2303 ($3125 in the US) per person per year.
With a well structured corporate wellbeing programme
- Less Absenteeism (and its evil cousin, presenteeism)
- More productivity
- Higher staff retention (because employees feel more valued and there is less burnout)
- More innovation (you can’t be creative in a crisis)
- Teams will work better together.
- You save money: Harvard researchers report a 6-to-1 return on investment for corporate wellbeing programs.
- More resilient in the face of shocks. Employee benefit programme.
How it works
- In the diagnosis phase, the wellbeing of the corporation as a whole is measured in a qualitative interview and visit (or virtual visit), and the wellbeing of employees is measured using anonymised World Health Organisation validated questionnaires.
- In the strategy development phase, Dr. Howick and his associates generate a report, plan, and discuss priorities in a power workshop.
- In the implementation phase, the priorities are tasked using measurable time-bound goals.
Here are some unique features of Dr. Howick’s corporate wellbeing programme
- It addresses both corporation level wellbeing (office environment, etc.) as well as individual level wellbeing (based on the emerging evidence that physical, mental, and social health are connected)
- It is evidence-based. Research backs up everything the programme recommends.
- It is data-driven. All participants measure their health and wellbeing at the beginning and at the end using World Health Organisation validated tools.
1. The corporation level
- Physical ‘health’ of the corporation includes water and air quality, noise, security, active design, and plants. Did you know that NASA RECOMMENDS 2-3 PLANTS for every 100 square feet (9.3 square meters)?
- Mental ‘health’ of the corporation includes aligning employees with the corporate mission. We help employees align their personal missions with the mission of the corporation, and promote authentic values. This makes the corporation more resilient.
- Social ‘health’ of the corporation includes corporate social responsibility to carefully chosen charitable causes. Rallying around a charitable cause promotes the mental health of the corporation, helps the community, and boosts everyone’s mood.
2. The individual employee level
In addition to the corporation level improvements, all employees are given free access to the 8-WEEK DOCTOR YOU WELLBEING COURSE (see Individual Doctor You Wellbeing course below).

This has the potential to empower any organization.” Bhargav Sri Prakash (Friendslearn)
“Dr. Jeremy Howick has an incredible and executable strategy to drive workplace wellness. Here at Kaizo Health, we are already laser focused on employee experience and wellbeing. But Jeremy identified key areas of opportunities that were blind spots for us. He helped us think systematically about what we could do to improve the health of our workforce, and provided great data about the state of our staff’s mental, physical, and social health. Jeremy’s data-driven plan identified both the “what” and the “how” ensuring execution, and results. We will use these insights for many years to come in order to consistently improve employee experience, wellbeing and engagement.” Jay Greenstein (Kaizo Health)
